Ruzica wanted to bring new life into her old jewellery. She came to Pavle with an old golden bracelet and wanted to reuse the gold for a new one. After discussing with her about the style and design that she was interested in, he learned that she was looking for engravings that had a more traditional touch. Pavle put together a couple of sketches for her and then began to work on the piece.
He used a copper replica of his design to duplicate the foundation of each tile and then hand engraved all of the details onto every one.
Ruzica came back to Pavle looking to elongate a necklace. This necklace held a lot of sentimental value as it was a custom piece that was made years ago and was gift from her mother. The necklace was a chain of golden filigree links.
Filigree jewellery is composed of very thin metal threads or tiny beads that are intricately soldered into different designs and patterns. Gold filigree jewellery comes with an extra challenge because it is a softer metal to work with.
Pavle was able to replicate the chain link and elongate her necklace. She was so happy and impressed with the results, she asked him to create a matching bracelet as well.
“I was amazed. I had tried several times to get these extra links made but no one was willing to take the challenge. This piece is very meaningful to me. I am glad I can still wear it and I have the bracelet to match.”
